What to do with a staff member who catches a cold in front of your nose? Should they go to the testing station and spend a few days in quarantine? Or do you have a quick test, with an answer within 15 minutes whether an extensive test is necessary? A corona rapid test prevents you from losing your staff for a number of days unnecessarily.

Types of Covid-19 rapid tests

How an antigen rapid test works

An antigen rapid test determines whether you are infected with the coronavirus.

In case of a corona infection, your nasal and/or throat mucus contains specific virus proteins (antigens).

Using a cotton swab or a little spit, take a sample of this mucus. Which sample you should use depends on the type of self-test. The follow-up is the same for all types.

First, you mix the mucus/ saliva with the test liquid. A little of this mixture is then dripped onto a test card. After 15 minutes you read off the test result.

New: the 4-in-1 corona self-test

The 4-in-1 corona self-test is the most universal rapid test on the market. This self-test can be used as a lollipop test, shallow nose test, nasal mucus test and throat mucus test. This new antigen rapid test also obtained high sensitivity scores in a test by the Paul Erlich Institut.

Lollipop test corona self-test

Lollipop test makes corona self-testing even easier

The corona lollipop test makes sampling during a self-test more pleasant and simple. You only have to roll the swab over the inside of the cheek. At 96.5 percent, its reliability is comparable to other rapid tests.

German employers obliged to offer coronatesto workers

As of 19 April, employers in Germany are obliged to offer their employees who do not work at home a coronation test. Two thirds of companies in Germany already offer their employees a free coronation test, and 69 percent of companies are now or will soon be offering a regular test.

Reliability of antigen self-test

Even a PCR test does not achieve 100 per cent reliability and the same applies to an antigen self-test.

The tests provided by Portaal Check are on the list of recognised rapid tests of the EU Health Security Committee. This means that they meet the sensitivity criterion of the European Union.

This is how our 4-in-1 corona self-test a sensitivity of 96.43 per cent and a specificity of 100 per cent.

Difference between sensitivity and specificity

The sensitivity of the corona self-test is the percentage of correct positive results. The higher the percentage, the better the test can detect corona cases.

The specificity of the corona self-test is the percentage of correctly negative results. The higher the percentage, the better the test will show healthy persons.

New generation rapid test

The era of the long cotton bud that has to be inserted deep into the nose is over. The new, reliable corona rapid tests do not have this problem. This makes them very suitable as Covid-19 self-tests. There are four options: the 4-in-1 quick testthe lollipop testthe shallow nose test and the spit test.
