Customer with mouth mask in hairdressing salon

Hairdressing salons open conditionally as of 13 February

The National Consultative Committee in Belgium announced on 5 February that hairdressers will be allowed to open their doors again on 13 February. The expected time restriction of half an hour per customer will not be implemented - because this is not feasible for every haircut, Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said.

Among other things, hairdressers will be obliged to work by appointment and with 10 minutes between each client to disinfect the workplace. Other clients must wait outside, there must be sufficient ventilation by leaving doors and windows open for example.

The rules are in addition to the protocols that were already in place after the first reopening, such as wearing a mouth mask.

The Consultative Committee also recommends monitoring air quality with the help of a CO2 meter.

Under the same conditions, other non-medical contact professions will be allowed to open their doors on 1 March.
